Szalay’s Farm and Market
Szalay's Farm & Market in Peninsula is in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley. This family-owned farm & market really comes to life in the fall! The market sells all kinds of local and specially items like produce, maple syrup, corn stalks, straw bales, fresh chestnuts, local honey, Ohio-grown apples and fresh pressed cider. They also have an amazing selection of pumpkins and gourds of all kinds!
From September 14th to October 31st, they have a 3-acre corn maze, spinning barn, and on the weekends, hay rides! It is open every day from 10am until 7pm. The maze comes with a map so you can test your navigational skills. It takes about 30 minutes to complete and is stroller-friendly. There are all kinds of spooky scenes set up along the way! The corn maze + spinning barn are $6, free for kids under 3. Seniors (70+) are $5. On the weekends they also have a hayride. For the corn maze, spinning barn and hayride it’s $10. Seniors are $8. Again, free under 3. Make sure you have cash or check- they don't take credit cards!
You can enjoy a snack from the market while sitting in the big rocking picnic tables or oversized swings. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad train frequently goes by, which adds to the wonder of the atmosphere, and is a fun treat for those kiddos who love trains!
There are so many photo ops, from the mountains of pumpkins and corn stalks, to the giant skeleton and jack-o-lantern! And it's all set in the beauty of the Cuyahoga Valley! This is the perfect little piece of fall if you only have an hour or two to spare.

Derthick’s Corn Maze
Derthicks Corn Maze in Mantua is a real country experience! They have 3 corn mazes to choose from with integrated scavenger hunt games. There are a fair amount of activities included in admission including a burlap sack slide, barn with some animals and games for little ones, sand pits, pedal car corral, hay bales to climb on, football and basketball wagons and a noise making station made of kitchen items!
Highlights for our family were the sandpit for the 1 year-old, the hay bales for the 4 year-old and the sack race slides for the 5 year-old.
The whole farm is stroller friendly, including the corn mazes, as long as you have a stroller meant for rougher terrains
We found out from staff that all the activities they have set up when you first walk in require extra tickets, including the air cannons and jump pad. The zip line and hay ride are also extra. And make sure to have cash, because there is also an upcharge at the food truck for using credit.
One note is that this is an active farm and there is an ELECTRIFIED fence intended to keep the calfs from escaping. This is only 100 yards or so from the play area and unattended, so keep a close eye on your kids.
They are only open weekends, Fri. 6pm-11pm, Sat. 1pm-11pm and Sun. 12pm-6pm
Admission is $13
Seniors: $8
Children 2 and under are free

The highlights for our family:
My 1 year-old had the time of her life for about 45 minutes on the jump pad!
My 5 year-old was obsessed with going in each building in the western town and checking out the funny scenes. He also spent a bunch of time at the firetruck slide with real parts and opening compartments!
The baby was in her prime in the corn barn sitting and playing in the cool corn on a hot day.
My 4-year old loved feeding the goats on the feed elevator and watching the goats climb their tower!
My favorite part was the fair lemonade and ?maybe? the best peanut butter chocolate funnel cake I've ever had!
My husband loved the ninja warrior course and the fossil dig!
There is so much more to do here- you gotta check it out! The best part- everything is included in the admission price except the train barrel ride ($1), feed for the animals ($0.50) and the food trucks/farm store. There's a lot of shade here, so it's good even on a hot day. It's stroller friendly- except for the corn maze- which is a little tougher terrain.
One cool thing about Kingsway is that all the photo opportunities (and there are a LOT) are hand-painted by the Kingsway family who own the farm! The family is so nice

👨👩👧👦 My husband joined us for the first time this year. He generally doesn't get excited about things like this, but he can't stop raving about Ramseyer! "They have such great ideas! Everywhere you look, there's something fun to do. Its so nice that they have staff around if you need anything. The food was reasonably priced. It's so clean! We should go back every year!"
🍁 Ramseyer has been a fall must-do since we moved here- and each year it gets better and better. New this year are the Beelines zip lines and the Maple-Jack BBQ Flatbread. They also added adult-sized changing tables to the Baby Barn- a space dedicated for feeding and caring for babies. The farm is completely stroller- friendly, including the corn maze. We went on a rainy day and didn't have to deal with mud at all- they've made sure the ground is well-drained and have artificial turf on the high-traffic areas.
🎉 To celebrate their 25th anniversary this year- the u-pick pumpkins of any size are 5 for $25. They also have a sunflower and zinnia u-pick field. One free flower is included with admission.
