Akron Zoo

The Akron Zoo is a staple for adventures with Akron kids! How cool is it that we have our very own zoo right here in Akron!? Raise your if you've been! Raise your if you've had a season pass!

The Akron Zoo is the perfect size for little ones, with enough to see and explore for a whole day, but also small enough to just spend an hour or two. While it lacks some animals found in bigger zoos (elephants, hippos, giraffes), there all kinds of other animals. More than 2,000 actually!! Our favorites are the otters, bears, lions and penguins. There are also lots of climbing areas, slides and interactive exhibits. We always make a stop at the carousel, the train, and the petting zoo. (Small extra charge for these, but punch tickets are available for a discount).

The month of September is free for Summit County residents (advance tickets required), and there are still tickets left!

Boo at the Zoo is coming up October 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27th. Kids can wear their Halloween costumes and visit different stations giving out treats.

November 5 is Free Admission for Election Day.

Did you know you can book a private experience with the tortoises, lions, grizzly bears and more? There are also tons of events (including some adult- only events coming up).

Parking is always free and there are reasonably priced concessions. Most of the exhibits are outside, but there are a handful of indoor animals at the main building like the Komodo dragon, tortoises and sea creatures, as well as the bat cave. It's stroller friendly- but there are a couple big hills I had a bit of trouble navigating while pregnant and pushing the stroller.
